As President of the Frederick City Council and former President Pro Tem of the Board of Aldermen, Katie Nash has demonstrated a commitment to responsive leadership and effective governance. Her accomplishments include:
Leadership
In December 2024, Katie was elected as the inaugural President of the newly established City Council, transitioning from the previous Board of Aldermen structure. This role underscores her colleagues' confidence in her leadership abilities.
Public Safety
Katie has strongly supported our community police officers, helping to ensure that they have the needed tools and resources to be successful on our behalf. Katie has also has an effective track record of advocating for and getting results on critical pedestrian safety projects within all of our neighborhoods.
Advocacy for Responsible Growth
Our City is our Home. We want our home to be a great place to live, work and play - inviting, inclusive, dynamic - awesome! We also want to ensure that we continue to advocate for responsible growth. This sometimes means making tough, but responsible decisions, which Katie has made since serving on the city council. Katie proposed targeted development moratoria for designated sections of the City requiring rezoning to help ensure that development aligns first with our community's capacity and infrastructure. We need to get it right the first time.
